The Tayana 42 is one of the best cruising boats available in the today's market. They sail extremely well and will take care of you in a blow. This particular Tayana 42 is in the Caribbean and will be coming up in the December time frame. Tayana 42s were built to the original offshore cruising design. Forward cabin sleeps two in queen sized offset Pullman Berth; Main Salon sleeps two in two settee berths and the Aft Quarter berth is currently used for storage of spares and tools.

6'5" headroom; Excellent varnished teak joinery throughout; Louvered doors on most cabinets; Varnished teak and holly cabin sole; Incandescent overhead lighting; halogen reading lights for all settees and berths; Apenglow red/white fluorescent light above table; Red LED floor lighting; Lee cloths on all berths; Extensive storage!

Forward Cabin
Queen size Pullman berth to port with copious storage beneath provided by large top-loading bins and two large drawers; Sail locker forward with access to chain locker; Bureau with three shelved louvered door clothes lockers and five drawers to starboard. Teak shelving port and starboard; Small seat to starboard with storage under; Solid teak door for privacy; White vinyl headliner; Overhead hatch with teak framed hinged screen; 12v fan and interior speakers.

Head
Located to port immediately aft of forward cabin with a Raritan PHII toilet (2003). Single stainless steel sink in vanity with four drawers and two storage lockers below. White mica counter-top; Five sundries and linen lockers; Extra handholds; Hand held shower; Separate gray water sump with teak grate ,electric overboard pumps for 42 Gallon holding tank; teak framed mirror; Overhead hatch with hinged screen.

Passageway
Two large hanging lockers opposite head with shelf above.

Main Salon
Straignt settee to starboard - storage beneath plus two louvered door lockers above. Two seatees to port at the "set in place" table with storage under the forward settee. House battery bank and starting battery under the aft settee.Two large drawers beneath settee. Two overhead hatched and 8 opening ports.

Galley
GALLEY U-shaped; Located to starboard at foot of companionway - step up from main salon.Force 10 three (3) burner propane stove with oven. Drawer beneath and four drawers alongside.

Two 20# propane tanks in vented locker w/ remote shutoff. Refrigeration has an AC Unit to run on shore power only at 110v and an Alder Barbor 12v Freezer that works great while away from the dock. It keeps everything cold and will even make ice cubes for you. White laminate counter-tops trimmed with teak fiddles. Additional drop-in fiddles keep cooking materials in place offshore.

Double sinks have both pressure water and foot pumps for fresh and seawater; Storage beneath sinks; Five sliding louvered door lockers outboard at counter level; Fold up counter top extension and a two year old microwave.

2.5 year old Katadyne 80-E water maker that makes 4 gallons an hour @ 13 volts.

Hot water heater-Heated with shore power and/or underway while the engine is running.

Nav Station
Located to port opposite the galley. Lift top chart table with storage beneath; Separate partitioned chart storage locker below chart table; Fixed seating with storage beneath; Wet locker aft of seat; AC-DC electrical distribution panel. Under the Navigation Station seating is electrical wiring,bus bars and fuses.

Quarter Berth
Located to port at foot of companionway - step down; Quarter berth with filler; Large hanging locker; Shelf overhead at foot of berth; Large storage compartment and access to hot water heater and steering gear; Opening port; 12v fan.

Deck
Double stainless steel bow rollers; Twin deck hawser pipes; Twin foredeck cleats with fair leads; Bow and stern pulpits; Hinged foredeck locker; Stainless steel stanchions with double lifelines; Stainless steel mast pulpits. Mid-ship and stern cleats with chocks.

Four deck hatches with screens; Eight opening ports with screens.

Two Lewmar 48ST 2-speed primaries; Two Lewmar 2-speed 40ST secondaries; Three mast-mounted 2-speed winches: Two Barient #24 & One Lewmar 40; Four cabin-top winches: Two Lewmar 2-speed 40ST & Two Lewmar #7s.

Raw water washdown @ bow 66# spade anchor on 275' of high tensil galvanized chain-chain is one year old; Danforth on 275' of 3/4" nylon rode; Bruce Anchor stored below.

Cockpit
Dodger; Custom cockpit awning; Companionway drop boards, screens and doors; Steering pedestal with stainless steel guard and varnished teak helm seat.

Sails

  • One year old tan bark main w/4 full battens made by Mack Sails in Florida.
  • 4 month old tan bark 135% jib made by Mack Sails in Florida.
  • Lazy jacks for stacking main on boom.
  • 100% jib, tan bark older but in good shape.
  • Stay-sail- tan bark sail

140 gal diesel fuel in two fiberglass tanks; 226 gal water in two stainless steel tanks mounted on centerline; 42 gal fiberglass holding tank; 12 gal 110v hot water heater with engine heat exchange system.

Plumbing
Fresh water manual foot pumps for the galley and head sinks. Raw water from electric pump at galley sink. Bonded bronze thru-hull fittings below waterline; This vessel has a 1500 Rule bilge pump with alarm and two smaller bilge pumps one with an alarm and one without. A Raw water deck wash down in the windless locker. Separate grey water shower sump with 12v pump.

Healthy Aspect
The owner added a Cold water spicket on top of the counter above the Fridge/freezer. This will allow you to have excellent cold water at all time of the day or night. Very good addition to this cruising boat.
