The Amel Super Maramu 53 Red Line is one of the best cruising boats ever built. She was designed for short-handed sailing with controls at the helm for the electric furlers, electric winches, windlass and telescoping bow-thruster--all while the captain is comfortably nestled behind the factory-built hard dodger.

She has many well-spaced bulkheads throughout which provide superior strength and stiffness not seen in many boats. A seasoned sailor will immediately recognize the designer's strong emphasis on safety as evidenced by her five water-tight bulkheads, water-tight engine room, super strong hull-to-deck joint and her secure cockpit. The interior is not at all cramped but the furniture is strategically placed so there are no wide open spaces to get thrown about in when the weather turns rough.

She tracks well and is a superb off-shore vessel with good performance and a sea-kindly motion. Her sail plan is very flexible and easy to implement in accordance with the weather conditions.

Her interior is both luxurious and functional. The joinery and finish of her mahogany bulkheads and cabinetry are top-notch. Lady H is a very high end vessel both in her build quality and in her livability. Lady H features 3 reverse cycle air conditioners/heaters for comfort throughout.

A one-piece companionway door slides downward for interior access which is an unusual but clever design. The interior is beautiful African mahogany with teak covered plywood soles in the galley and saloon--well executed, high quality craftsmanship throughout. The staterooms and walk through are carpet. The headliner is cream vinyl.

Starting forward, the forward stateroom features a U-shaped sleeping area, providing flexible accommodations for guests. A hatch and two portholes give some light and ventilation. The stateroom has a two piece door that latches shut. Outside is a head to port with en-suite shower. These all can be sealed off by the first submarine bulkhead. Amels are famous for these watertight submarine style bulkheads. Amels are engineered to be seaworthy vessels with safety foremost and submarine bulkhead are just one example of their commitment to safely.

Amidships, the saloon has a love seat starboard. To port, a U-shaped dining area. Addition refrigeration and freezer storage are under settee. The galley is to port which is long U-shaped with a front loading primary refrigeration. The counter top has high fiddles a sometimes forgotten detail. The navigation station is opposite the galley. Aft of the nav station is a walk-through to the aft stateroom. The walkthrough features another excellent sea berth with removable lee board. Aft is another watertight bulkhead and access to the master stateroom and head. The master head has an en-suite shower. The berth is low, large and U-shaped--once again, providing flexible accommodations for crew and guests.

Engines
Amels in general is the engine access through the cockpit sole. The hatch is watertight and opens easily with hydraulic lifts. I think this goes as another superior feature on Amels. The access and room is excellent. You can step down into the room and maintain the Yanmar 100hp engine and Onan generator with ease.

Deck
Up forward, two hatches to the chainlocker are port and starboard with hinges from the bulwarks and dog latches. The windlass is horizontal between the hatches.
